A. is for Airport
- Logan Airport Boston, MA
 

B. is for Bus The easiest method of cheap transportation.  Go outside of terminal C and look for the T sign for buses.  Free shuttles are available between terminals if you are not at C.  Make sure that the bus says it is going to Salem Depot.  There are a few inbetween buses that do not.  (~1 hour, $1.50, bring exact change)

C. is for Cab - Cab is probably the most direct route to Salem.  Figure 45 minutes for the drive and $50-60 for the fare.  Available outside the baggage claim.
 

D. is for Driving - another good option: rent a car.  Figure 45 minutes for the drive and have ~ $5 for the toll.
 

  • Follow the Airport Exit Signs

  • Follow the 93-North signs through the Toll.

  • Take I-93 North

  • Take I-95/128-North at exit 37.

  • Take the 128 North split.

  • Take 114-East all the way in to Salem

  • Turn left one block past the Essex Street light

  • Norman Street, becomes New Derby Street becomes Derby Street in a space of ~10 blocks.

  • Turn left on 1A/Congress Street/Washington Square and go two blocks for the Hawthorne (parking in rear) or see the Waterfront Hotel at the right corner (parking in front).
     

E. rhymes with T which is what they call the train/subways. (~2 hours, ~$8-13)

  • Take the shuttle outside baggage claim to the Blue Line.

  • Take the Blue line Inbound 4 stops to Government Center (not State Street though it may tempt you) and change to the Green Line

  • Take the Green Line Outbound 2 stops to North Station

  • Follow signs to the Commuter Rail

  • Take the Newburyport/Rockport/Beverly line to Salem

  • Take cab to hotel ($5) or walk 0.4 miles...
     

F. is for Ferry - the Salem Ferry (up to 3 hours, dependent on other modes of transportation)

  • The Salem Ferry docks at the New England Aquarium at Central Wharf in Boston.

  • Tickets may be purchased on board the vessel, $12.

  • Departs every two hours, on the odd hour.

  • Travels North through Boston Harbor and open ocean to Salem Harbor

  • The dock is accessible from Logan Airport via:

    1. the MBTA Blue Line at the Aquarium stop, walk to Central Wharf (departing every 6 minutes ,~25 minutes from airport including free shuttle to Subway, $1.50)

    2. the MBTA Harbor Express Water Shuttle (departing every 45 minutes, 7 minutes to Long Wharf (next to Central Wharf, $12).

    Once in Salem, take a local cab for $5
